It just may not be an audience.

More followers.

It is one of the most visible numbers on social media.

10,000 looks better than 1,000. 100,000 looks better than 10,000.

So businesses chase the number. Then what?

Followers are an audience. In theory.

Imagine an account has 100,000 followers. It publishes a post. Fifty people respond. Now imagine another account has 1,000 followers. The same fifty people respond.

The response is the same. The context is not.

The follower number has changed the denominator.

A bigger denominator can make the result look smaller.

If the follower count grows but the relevant audience does not, the visible number gets bigger while genuine response stays where it is.

The business has not necessarily grown. It may simply have made its response ratios look worse.

Look beyond the profile number.

Behind the public count, Meta's tools can show more about reach, interactions and audience. Website measurement can show what happened after someone arrived.

AUDIENCE → ENGAGEMENT → EXPERIENCE → VALUE

Not: FOLLOWERS → MORE FOLLOWERS.

Stop measuring screenshots. Start measuring value.
